The Ongoing Challenge Facing Social Services in Glasgow, South Lanarkshire and surrounding areas

Through close collaboration with social workers, we understand one of the greatest ongoing challenges: lack of accessible support and funding. With many councils facing severe budget deficits, frontline staff are often left with minimal resources to support people facing poverty, mental health struggles, or housing crises.

This creates a tragic imbalance — the demand for help is growing, but the ability to meet it is shrinking.

A Cost-Effective Solution

Clyde Care offers practical, compassionate support — at a fraction of the cost of many council-approved contractors. In fact, feedback from our partners suggests our services are on average 60%–70% more cost-effective.

By not utilising providers like Clyde Care, councils may inadvertently contribute to the cycle of poverty and delayed care in areas such as Glasgow, South Lanarkshire, and the surrounding regions.

The Path Forward

The solution is straightforward:

  • Allow Clyde Care to apply for council-approved contractor panels
  • Empower social workers and care teams to refer companies based on service quality, not just existing procurement lists
  • Prioritise ethical, people-first service providers who focus on care, not profit

Profit-driven contractors alone cannot solve these issues. It’s time to make room for providers who are genuinely committed to helping people — and doing so affordably and effectively.

Despite our efforts, we have so far been unable to open a direct dialogue with Glasgow City or South Lanarkshire Council. However, we remain optimistic and ready. The need for change is real, and our reputation for responsive, compassionate care continues to grow.

Clyde Care is not just a service — we are a solution. Let’s work together to bring meaningful, cost-effective help to the people who need it most.
